Mississippi Hotel and Lodging AssociationWe’re very excited to finally launch Tee It Up Mississippi, a multi-media campaign to promote golf (and other activities) through a marketing partnership with the Mississippi Hotel and Lodging Association.  Tee It Up Mississippi will include regular articles and a monthly radio program on TGD Radio introducing listeners to golf courses, golf packagers, hotels, restaurants, casinos, fishing charters, and much more from folks across the entire state Mississippi. Perhaps the most interesting note about Mississippi tourism is its diversity. We’re looking forward to exploring Mississippi countryside and coastline with you. Welcome Mississippi!

In the first episode of Tee It Up Mississippi, TGD Radio host, Shan Coughlin interviewed Linda Hornsby, Executive Director for the Mississippi Hotel and Lodging Association. Linda is definitely the right person for the job. Her enthusiasm is certainly contagious. The first episode included a broad overview of what this great state has to offer to traveling golfers. With 180+ golf courses throughout the state, adding golf to any vacation is extremely convenient. Finding accommodations for any golf package is not a problem either.  There are opportunities to create golf vacation packages combined with fishing charters, hunting trips, gambling trips, culinary excursions, hiking, and just about anything else one can imagine. During the first interview, Shan and Linda touched on one of my favorites…food! Mississippi cuisine is much like the same food that folks find in New Orleans, and I don’t know about you…but I’m a huge fan.

Another great point that came out of Linda’s first interview was that while many of the accommodations had to rebuild after hurricane Katrina,  most of the golf courses were barely affected. And because the Mississippi coast is protected by barrier islands, the oil spill barely affected their shoreline. Their beaches are pristine and cleaner than ever.

As the Tee It Up Mississippi program matures, we’ll be including more and more content with links to the many activities available in Mississippi. We’ll be spotlighting golf courses, hotels, casinos, fishing charters, and more with interviews from folks throughout the state to give us first-hand information about Mississippi activities. We’re delighted to be included in the effort to promote Mississippi Golf and tourism.
